We’ve all heard about the health benefits of drinking more water. And it’s not just doctors trying to convince us. Everyone’s getting in on the act; even my planner has 8 little water cup images at the bottom of each day for me to cross off. So if it’s so universally accepted as being good for us, why don’t we drink more water? Because it’s boring. That’s why. For the vast majority of us, water is boring and we would way rather drink another coffee or a tea. Well, I’m here to offer 4 fun ways to drink more water!
Drink More Water
How many times can they tell us to drink more water? Don’t they know how bored we get with water? Unless you are lucky enough to live in one of those magical places where the water tastes great, getting enough water in your diet is probably hard. The water at our cabin in the mountains comes from a well and it just tastes so amazing there, and good thing it does as the altitude and dry air make me need so much more water!
There are SO many great health benefits to staying hydrated. It helps your cells do their jobs properly. Possible benefits of drinking water range from keeping the kidneys healthy to losing weight. There’s some evidence that says it can prevent headaches, cramps, and strains. It can help regulate your digestive and immune system, improve your complexion (love my skin!) and more.
And in this context, it fills your tummy so you don’t feel as hungry. I read a depressing article that said so many of us are so chronically dehydrated that we can’t tell hunger from thirst! So, if in doubt, try a big glass of water first. Wait 15mins and then decide if you need that snack.
Drink More “Interesting” Water
And how are you going to drink more water? We’re going to make that water more interesting!
- Add Bubbles – This is personally my favorite way to jazz up my water. I own the Fizzi and the Jet SodaStream and love both. I’ve given them to so many family and friends. PLUS they are way more environmentally friendly than bottled soda water and way more convenient than schlepping heavy bottles from the store.
- Add Flavor – I love adding a drop of Vitality oils to my water. Adds flavor without calories and makes me more likely to go back for more.
- Add Color too – Some days I just want my drink to look pretty! Adding 2oz of Ningxia Red not only gives my water a pretty hue, it adds a whole heap of health loving anti-oxidants too! My whole body thanks me. Another great choice is adding a splash of Kombucha (I make my own but you can find healthy ones in the store too.) These have the added benefit of a probiotic boost.
- Add Decoration – Edible flowers or some floating fruit make a drink feel special and like a treat in itself. Don’t feel like you need to go to the store for fresh – frozen works just as well and is ready all year round. I like pomegranate pearls and raspberries, or even dried Organic Goji/Wolfberries are an easy option.
Ready for the advanced rounds? Try two of these at once! or more! Wanna know what I did while typing this post? I drank 2oz of Ningxia Red and 14oz soda water in my big glass (method 1 and 3), AND THEN I drank 16oz of soda water with 1 drop Lime Essential Oil and 1 drop Black Pepper EO (if you haven’t tried this combination, it’s the bomb!)(methods 1 and 2). Let me know what methods you tried/want to try~ Hope you enjoyed this GoodDrop hydration tip! ‘Til next Tuesday!
