Beautiful skin requires clean make-up brushes and clean hands. Our skin is a delicate microcosm, and it’s easy to throw it out of balance when we rub our faces with our hands or use dirty brushes.  (and yes, I’m guilty of both).  So in the quest for beautiful looking skin and a glowing complexion, I am attempting to reform my evil ways!

I occasionally used to clean them with a gentle foaming cleanser, but when Young Living released their new Solid Brush Cleaner and Silicon Cleansing Pad, to go with their vegan Makeup brushes, I thought this might be the simple solution I had been looking for to get me cleaning them regularly.

I literally had not cleaned my brushes in maybe 6 months.  In the first shot, you can see those white-ish looking blobs? That was build up of the minerals sort of clumped together on hairs of the brush.  (I know! It’s gross!) So I ordered the Cleaner and Cleansing Pad – here is my review: The first big pro – it came with directions so I didn’t have to watch videos or wonder what to do. Second, they were easy to follow. Three, it went super fast.  I don’t know that there really were any cons.  It was a super fast and easy process.

DIRECTIONS
  1. Wet your Savvy Minerals brush with the bristles pointing down. Make sure to wet only the bristles and not the handle.
  2. Swirl the bristles into the Savvy Minerals Solid Brush Cleaner (second shot).
  3. Place the Savvy Minerals Silicone Brush Cleansing Pad in the palm of your hand (I just left mine on the counter) and swirl the bristles against the surface to create suds.
  4. Rinse the brush, bristles pointing down, until the water runs clear. Repeat steps 2-4 if needed.
  5. Reshape the brush and lay flat to dry. (last shot! clean and drying!)

The Solid Brush Cleaner was as easy to use as I hoped.  Super fast and I could do a bunch of brushes at once.  I’m excited to make this a more regular ritual.  Maybe I’ll even put a reminder in my calendar so I don’t go quite so long next time! How often do you clean your brushes? What do you use to clean them now? Do you think you’d try a solid bar cleanser like this?
