the Good Drop, the GoodDrop, essential oils, Young Living, thanksgiving, chamomile, keep calmWith hundreds of essential oils to choose from, many with similar properties, it can be difficult to choose sometimes! Side story, Roman Chamomile was out of stock for months when I first joined YL and I waited (not very patiently) for it to come back as it had been recommended for my son’s anxiousness.  So you can imagine my joy in discovering that it was FREE this month! Let’s take a tour through a couple of European countries and discover the benefits of German and Roman Chamomile. 🌼

What is chamomile?

This precious white and yellow wildflower blooms in pastures, along roadsides, and in other sunny areas. Its name comes from the Greek Khamai, meaning “on the ground,” and melon, meaning “apple.” The chamomile plant has been used throughout history for various purposes, stealing and calming our hearts for ages!

German Chamomile

Coming from the same family as sunflowers and daisies, German Chamomile usually blooms between spring and autumn. Its oil features a blue hue (you might remember this from my Shingles roller!), distinguishing it from most other oils. Although its flowers are smaller than its Roman counterpart, German Chamomile packs a hefty punch! Here are our tips on how you can apply the oil in your everyday life:

1. Finesse your face creams. German Chamomile boasts calming and skin-rejuvenating benefits. Mix a few drops with your favorite skin cream and enjoy a sweet, soft scent. Check out this Young Living Blog post for some helpful tips on how to create your own lotion!

2. Create your own blemish blend. The constituent chamazulene is what makes German Chamomile a top contender for your skincare routine because it soothes minor skin irritations. Add the following oils to an empty 15 ml essential oil bottle to minimize the appearance of blemishes.

Roman Chamomile

An oldie but a goodie! Roman Chamomile oil has been used by ancient Egyptians and Romans for their creams and salves. It offers a sweet, apple-pie-like aroma that you’ll fall in love with instantly! Here’s how you’ll know this oil is the one for you:

1. Wake up refreshed. If you want a new morning muse, combine the gentle Roman Chamomile oil with Citrus Fresh™ for a bright, tart scent that will rejuvenate your senses.

2. Soothe sore muscles. Massage fatigued muscles and joints after a rigorous workout or add Roman Chamomile to a warm bath, so you can be relaxed and ready to conquer your goals the next day.

3. Calm your little ones. For centuries, mothers have used chamomile with their children because of its calming scent. In fact, its also known as the “kid calmer” oil! Mix 3-5 drops of Roman Chamomile with V-6™ and apply to your child’s temples, stomach, or bottoms of the feet when they need it most.

4. Catch some Zzz’s. Simply diffusing the calming aroma of Roman Chamomile will make you Zen away. But diffusing it with Lavender and Orange? Ha, it’ll definitely send you away to dreamland! Set the stage for a night of slumber with this Dream Team diffuser combo.
