Lemon Essential Oil gets rid of goo, gunk, gum, grease and crayons.

You know you have it. You might be ignoring it, but in 5 years of teaching essential oils classes, I haven’t come across someone who doesn’t have a weirdly sticky cabinet above the microwave. It’s the sort of cabinet that when you wipe it down, tiny bits of lint get left behind in the finish.

Well, fear no more, because I have a solution for you: Young Living’s Lemon Essential Oil. This oil is so effective at getting rid of goo, gunk, gum, grease, and crayons, you will be blown away. Gone is your sticky, slightly dull and not-as-nice-as-the-others cabinet. Back is your lovely shiny happy kitchen.

  1. Put a couple drops of Lemon oil on the corner of a cleaning cloth and test first on an inconspicuous spot. This is out of an abundance of caution. I’ve not had anyone tell me they’ve had any reactions on wood or laminate surfaces. If you have a more delicate painted finish, please test first.
  2. Mix together Lemon EO (depending on surface size 5-10 drops) with 1 tbsp of Thieves Household Cleaner and a cup of water.
  3. Spray lightly, or (if you don’t have a spray bottle) dampen a cloth and wipe over area. Let sit for a minute.
  4. Spray again and scrub more thoroughly. This should work for most sticky surfaces.
  5. Rinse and wipe with a clean cloth.
  6. NOTE: If it is really bad, you can amp it up in Step 4 by mixing Lemon EO with a carrier oil (almond oil is particularly good for wood surfaces and is used in a lot of DIY wood polish recipes) and rubbing that over the surface.

Unlike grocery store brands that have fillers (and are not required to list them on their ingredients!), Young Living’s Lemon Essential Oil is 100% essential oil; cold-pressed from the rind of freshly picked fruit. Making it super fresh, fast and effective. And a great way to get your house clean the non-toxic way!

But wait! There’s more! (Anyone else love the way that Billy Mays would demo a product?) Lemon Oil can be used to polish wood, and chrome, and clean gunk off your iron or sharpie off your walls. Its uses around your home just keep going and going. What’s your favorite household tip using Lemon?
